November 23rd, 2009Dreams, Random ThoughtsSo last Saturday morning I had my first (and final) trial hair and make-up. The whole process took less than 1 1/2 hours. So as not to waste it, my fiance and I had planned to have our own amateur pictorial session (with some help from his dad, using only my instant digital camera). I thought this was pretty gutsy of us, considering we both normally feel uncomfortable in front of a camera, like deer caught in front of headlights hehe
This was definitely a situation where we would both be out of our comfort zones, but hey, I’ve been wanting to learn to pose in front of a camera, and I thought, “There’s no better time than the present” hehe. Read the rest of this entry »

November 17th, 2009ReviewsIn line with my goal to gradually switch to 100% organic, chemical-free personal care products, I would like to share a couple of the brands I’m using at the moment. I’ll share my reviews of some of their products in future posts.
For me, a major consideration for choosing any organic product, aside from the fact that it has to do its function (ex. a shampoo should clean my hair, a lotion should moisturize my skin, etc)… is its PRICE. It shouldn’t be a lot more expensive compared to the non-organic, synthetic, preservative-laden commercial version. Let’s face it, it’s easier to be motivated to save the environment and take better care of our health when the cost is reasonable. More and more people are becoming conscious of how they spend their hard-earned money, especially with the unstable economy and unpredictable nature of global warming – at least I know I am, hehe (flooding, anyone?). November 10th, 2009Dreams, Random ThoughtsTime flies when you’re busy. It seems only yesterday when the proposal happened, now it’s already less than 3 months til the big day. There are still so many details that need to be finalized. So much to plan, so much to do. I am thinking when this is all over and I’m married and a bit adjusted to life after, I should write an article to share how we planned our wedding.
Anyway, I was fortunate enough to attend 3 weddings last October. I am friends with the brides. Although part of me was trying to observe the details of the church and reception programme (to hopefully get some tips and ideas), it really reminded me that a wedding is really just a celebration of the love between two people, and a public declaration of their commitment and acknowledgement of God’s presence in their lives. All the other stuff like the flowers, the music, the dresses, the food, and the programme… they’re just icing on the wedding cake.
It felt so good to be able to share their joy and to be a part of their special day. I felt so happy for them all. I wish EJ, J, and E a long and happy life together with their husbands. Congratulations and Best Wishes! Take Care and God bless you as you begin the next chapter of the story of your lives!

October 28th, 2009Quick Reads, Random ThoughtsIn light of our family’s firsthand experience with Typhoon Ondoy, I find myself looking back at the past month and thinking of all the things I am thankful for, and things I learned from the whole experience.
Learnings and Realizations:
- Much of what we consider important are not really essential for a happy life. We tend to accumulate so many things in our journey through life, but these often end up as clutter – as waste.
- Before spending your hard-earned money on anything, think “Do I really need this now?”, “Will I really use this?” and “Is it really worth it?”
- It’s really by the grace of God, that it’s during times of tragedy and trials that we are able to catch a glimpse of our own hidden potential. We often underestimate our own abilities and capabilities, but it’s when everything is darkest, that we can take the opportunity to shine more brightly. Read the rest of this entry »

October 27th, 2009Dreams, Random ThoughtsAs a break from my recent more serious posts, I thought I’d share something lighthearted for a change. Here are some things I want to do soon (hopefully… the sooner the better):
- I want to discover my signature scent. I’m not a big fan of perfumes, but I would like to have one special scent – light, wearable for everyday, that I can really call my own. One that I can say perfectly complements my personality and body chemistry.
- Wear a 2-piece swimsuit with confidence! As embarrassing as it may seem, I’ve never worn a 2-piece in my entire life. I’d like to do this while I’m still *ahem* young. But more than that, I really want to be more confident in the skin/body that I have.
- Learn to pose and be comfortable in front of a camera. I would like to be more at ease and to find out what my best angles are. This is partially in preparation for my wedding day, so my fiancé and I can have a beautiful wedding photos for our album. It’s also a good reason for me to explore a different side of myself, as I’m usually very low-key. Read the rest of this entry »
