    Hong Kong Science Museum

This museum is a good place to take children to, especially if you have kids who have an interest in science and how stuff works. It has 4 levels of mostly interactive exhibits, and you can spend an entire morning just touching and trying out all the things on display. The museum is divided into different galleries focusing on different areas of science like light, magnetism, communication, etc.. It’s fun enough for kids but also informative enough for adults.

Note: Hong Kong has many other museums. If you’re interested in visiting more than one, the museums offer a special ticket that allows visitors entry to all of these other museums. You should check it out. It’s much cheaper than buying a regular ticket at every museum :)

Victoria Peak (Tram Ride and Peak Tower)

From our hotel (Park Hotel), we walked to the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station and bought tickets for Central Station. From Central, we followed the clearly marked signs to the Lower Peak Tram Terminus (about 15 minutes’ walk) where we bought the Peak Tram Sky Pass, which includes the round trip tram ride and entry to the Sky Terrace at The Peak. There were so many people lined up at the counter – I know the tram ride is one of the highlights of Hong Kong, but we had to wait for more than half an hour before we could board the tram, because it was so crowded. So I would definitely recommend those who plan to go there to set aside at least half a day, so you can be more relaxed. While walking to the tram terminal, keep an eye out for famous buildings like the Bank of China Tower.

The 15 minute tram ride to Victoria Peak was a unique experience, the tracks being tilted at such a sharp angle and all. However, there was only a few short minutes where we could see the view of the city buildings on the way up. For most of the ride, trees and other structures blocked the view. Unfortunately, it was raining when we went, so the view was also quite limited. The best time to go to Victoria Peak for the view is from late afternoon until night time. They say it offers the best view of Hong Kong.

The Peak Tower is a big mall shaped like a Noah’s ark at Victoria Peak. On topmost level is the Sky Terrace, where you can get a 360 degree view of Hong Kong.  Since it was raining when we went there, we couldn’t see much and couldn’t stay long because we were getting quite wet already. I’m sure if it wasn’t for the rain, the view would have been spectacular.
